The relationship between a brother and a sister is something very unusual and holistic relation in this world; they are like permanent friends. Usually, siblings have a love-hate relationship. They play a significant role in each other’s lives and can be a great companion.
At a different stage of their life, siblings share a different relation. As they grow, their bonding becomes more stable and mature. Let’s see in various brief stages in their relation.
During Infant
Siblings are first introduced as an infant by their parents or guardians. The older one is often made aware of their younger one during their mother’s pregnancy. They are often told that now you are a grown-up child, so do take care of your young ones. Usually, at this stage, the older one starts going to school and making friends. While the younger one is very small, they start walking, speaking, etc..
The older one starts playing with, the younger one, give love to them, take care of them, do cosy things and even sometimes irritate them.
During Teenage
As they grow to their teenage age, their fighting increase due to various reasons like sharing, comparing, immaturity, teasing, jealousy, etc…Unknowingly their friendship even starts growing; they start sharing talks, their feelings with each other.
During Adulthood & Old Age
Now, finally when they become mature, move apart from each other, they start realising each other’s value, start missing each other, they tend to be more respectful towards each other and help each other in need.
In almost all cases, siblings develop a friendship towards each other as they grow older. The fights remain, but instead of the fights ending in crying, and shedding tears, these end in laughter. The possibility of developing friendship among the brothers and sisters are great. One of the factors which play a huge role in this phenomenon is the fact that they grow up together. They are part of the same family and have the same upbringing. Moreover, the age difference is not much, so they tend to understand what the other person might be going through.
Friends come and go, but brothers and sisters are there for life. For those who have siblings, I know you have argued with your brother or sister. These little arguments are considered healthy and prove that there is a good relationship between the siblings. I believe that even though siblings fight most of the time, they love each other and you can’t find friends like the ones you are related to.
